Building Max Shadow Impact is a plugin tool that enable users to do shadow & solar access analysis on open spaces and visualize them in digit twin for their interested area. This plugin helps users to visualize the maximum & minimum shadow impact on open space caused by its surrounding buildings in a customized time frame; the max solar access area for selected open space; the shadow & solar intensity in the selected open space during the selected time range; the building impact on the open space
After the user selected the case area of open space and input the WFS URL for the buildings with height (m) in its attributes, this tool will filter the buildings which will have shadow cover the selected area by its height & the distance to the open space. Then find the maximum & minimum shadow covering the open space in the selected year, export the output based on users’ selection.

This tool can be found from the left control panel in Analytics
Run a job
To start your job, click in the building max shadow impact model after selecting the case area. More information about creating & selecting a case area please see.

- Enter the job name for this analysis;
- Enter the WFS URL for open space or use the default one;
- Choose the WFS URL from 3D cadastre fabric, Melbourne building footprints or enter your own building footprint WFS (with height column in integer format);
- Select your height column name;
- Select the start date & end date for the time range you want to do this analysis
- Select the outputs you needed.

- Raster Resolution: The resolution for raster intensity layers (in meters).
- Max Shadow: The maximum shadow covering the open space caused by surrounding buildings (with date & time in attributes). (WMS)
- Individual Max Shadow: The maximum shadow covering the open space, with the building id in attribute, showing the relation between shadows & buildings. (WFS)
- Min Shadow: The minimum shadow covering the open space caused by surrounding buildings (with date & time in attributes). (WMS)
- Max solar access: The maximum solar access the open space can get during the customized time range (with date & time in attributes). (WMS)
- Shadow Intensity: The raster intensity of the shadows covering the open space during the selected time range. (WMS)
- Solar Intensity: The raster intensity of the solar access on the open space during the selected time range. (WMS)
- Building Layer: The buildings that will have shadow covering the open space. (WFS)
